主講人介紹:王進(jìn),男,1998年和2000年分別本科和碩士畢業(yè)于中國(guó)科學(xué)技術(shù)大學(xué),2004年在俄亥俄州立大學(xué)獲得博士學(xué)位,之后留校任校一年,2005年至2007年在杜克大學(xué)任助理研究教授,2007年在奧多明尼奧大學(xué)先后任助理教授、副教授。2014年加入田納西大學(xué)查塔努加分校擔(dān)任教授(UNUM Chair of Excellence in Applied Mathematics)。主要研究方向是生物數(shù)學(xué)、數(shù)值分析和計(jì)算流體力學(xué),在Proc. Nat. Acad. Sci. USA, Canad. Appl. Math. Quart., J. Comput. Phys., Math. Biosci.等重要學(xué)術(shù)期刊發(fā)表論文八十多篇,并主持美國(guó)國(guó)家科學(xué)基金會(huì)、美國(guó)國(guó)立衛(wèi)生研究院等多項(xiàng)研究基金。


內(nèi)容介紹:This talk, with graduate students as the target audience, will provide an introduction for mathematical modeling, analysis and simulation of cholera transmission dynamics. Cholera is a severe waterborne infection that remains a significant public health burden in developing countries. The transmission of cholera includes both direct and indirect routes that may involve complex biological, environmental and socioeconomic factors. We will first present and analyze several simple cholera models, which are based on differential equations, to illustrate their dynamical properties and biological interpretations. We will next consider numerical simulation of cholera dynamics, with application to disease control and outbreak management. We will additionally discuss a few extensions to the basic cholera modeling framework.
